    Book Openings – Option 2

     

    This is a great option is you want to stretch down your arm line as well but be aware of your alignment!

    1. Start lying on your side, head supported, right up on the tip of your underlying shoulder. Knees bent at 90 degrees, spine in its neutral position. You can hold onto your top knee for stability – you want to keep your lower body stable throughout the exercise for maximum benefit.
    2. Start with your hands together and reach the top arm forward, letting your shoulder extend. Rotate your chest open until your arm is vertical and note how it feels sitting in the shoulder joint. Keeping that limb/joint connection, keep rotating with your spine and reach the arm out long. Make sure you don’t let the arm “flop” to the ground but keep its relationship to the shoulder and focus on rotating your ribs and shoulders.

    Inhale to return and repeat 5-6 times before rolling to the other side.
